is having a cloak necessary for Wicca??

yes, virginia, i am asking that question!

Personal Choice. I like cloaks, but not just as a Wicca. I usually dress normally (jeans shirt shoes optional). If it is an extra special day I dress a lot nicer, like one would to go to Church, out of respect for the Deity. It is not necessary to dress in any special way.

Psychic protection is a serious business

You may have heard the term ‘Psychic Attack' before and it sounds pretty scary which is okay because if you find it scary then it means you're going to take it seriously.

In some of the other information on this website psychic protection is mentioned if you are carrying out spells, rituals or other esoteric practises.  However, psychic attack can come from many different sources, both human and non human, and take different forms.  Being aware of this is the first step in protecting yourself.

When you begin to involve yourself in spiritual practises, regardless of denomination and type, your energetic body will start to vibrate at a higher level.  As this happens you will find that your thinking processes change, your viewpoint changes and you will attract different people and experiences into your life.  Essentially you are operating on a different frequency, shining like a beacon in the night, and you will be attractive to entities that don't have love in their heart for you.

These entities will want what you have: your vibrant energy.  They'll want to take it from you or attach themselves to you and just come along for the ride.  Think about all the people you know.  Is there one person who you dread spending time with, who seems to want to take from you all the time, who makes you feel tired just thinking of them?  Well that's a ‘Psychic Vampire'.  They want what you have and are prepared to bleed you dry.

If you're in the healing profession you will probably attract more than your fair share of these human vampires.  Of course, you wouldn't turn them away, they need your help and your support and that's what you're there for isn't it?

Well, actually it isn't.  You're there to help them get better not a crutch or wet nurse.

Anyway, whether you disagree or not (and I'm speaking from personal experience) you can still help them but you must learn to protect yourself psychically.  You'll also find that when you do this, those particular clients may go somewhere else where the energy is free and overflowing.  Even if you're not a healer, protecting yourself may see certain people leave your life.  But that's okay because you shouldn't want them feeding off you anyway.

Vampirism or attachment from non human entities will have the same effect on you but you may not know what's causing it, which is very frustrating.  You'll start to feel drained, exhausted, depressed and may even succumb to physical or mental illness.  However ,natural, everyday psychic protection is simple, requires focus at first until it's become a habit and has a huge range of benefits.

The process

1. Designate a time, first thing in the morning.  It could be while you're in the shower or cleaning your teeth or as soon as you wake up.  Fixing the process to an action that you do every day will anchor it ensuring it becomes a habit quickly and easily.
2. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.
3. Imagine there are strong roots growing from your feet down into the earth.  They thicken and twist as they wind themselves down.  This grounds you and gives you a feeling of stability and connection with the physical plane.
4. Now imagine a beam of soft light coming down from the heavens and connected with the top of your head.  The light can be whatever colour you want or that appears spontaneously.  This connects you to the heavens so you are now between heaven and earth, in balance with both your spiritual and physical aspects.
5. This light continues down to the middle of your torso in your solar plexus area which is just at the bottom of your rib cage. 
6. From this light you produce your shield for the day.  It is a shield that will keep harmful energies and attacks away from you but still allow good energies to connect with you.  There are different options for the design of this shield and you need to find one that is right for you.  Below are some suggestions but you may find that something comes to you spontaneously so go with it:
7. A bubble of light grows that completely surrounds you
8. A flowing cloak with a hood that you drape over you
9. A superhero costume
10. Chainmail
11. Angel's wings enfolding you

This is your everyday protection.  Doing it regularly reinforces the habit and increases the strength of your protection.  It's great to go out and explore the metaphysical world but be safe too.
