Laws regarding health and safety at firework displays. UK answers only please!?
I have just been to a firework display in the uk, my son fell onto a piece of wood with a dirty 4 inch screw in it. The organisers didn't know where the first aid kit was nor did they have an ambulance on site incase of accidents. Can anyone tell me what the law is regarding firework displays - should they have had an ambulance there by law? I took my son to A&E, where he needed stiches.
I'm not sure if there's a law that specifically states that an ambulance should be on-site, but the government has produced a leaflet for fireworks organisers which gives tips for successful and safe fireworks displays, as well as outlining the organiser's responsibilities to the public. In it, it states that organisers should "Arrange for first aid posts to be manned by qualified people.". They should have also given the emergency services prior notice of the event.
I hope you're son's alright.
